Igor Lacan, Ph.D.

Dr. Lacan joined The Bay Institute in 2011. He brings a breadth of experience in aquatic and terrestrial ecology in California, including research on the population dynamics of imperiled amphibians, stream biomonitoring in cities, and assessing the effects of exotic riparian vegetation. He has worked in ecosystems from the protected wilderness at the Sierra crest to the urban areas in San Francisco Bay. Dr. Lacan has a thorough understanding of California water management and water policy. He most recently worked as a Science Fellow at the State Assembly Committee on Water Parks and Wildlife, where he analyzed bills, and provided scientific and technical advice on new legislation and oversight of policy implementation in areas of sensitive species management and water. He holds a PhD in Urban Ecology, an MS in Aquatic Ecology, and a BS in Ecology, all from the University of California, Berkeley.
