John Frawley was appointed President and CEO of The Bay Institute in September of 2009. John will also continue his leadership role at Aquarium of Bay, where he played a major role in its 13-year transition from a failing commercial business to a fully accredited, successful marine nature center. Prior to joining Aquarium of the Bay in 1996, he was a park manager and a grand opening team member of Knott’s Camp Snoopy at Mall of America in Minneapolis. Previously, he worked at other AZA accredited facilities, including the Minnesota Zoo and the Gladys Porter Zoo in Texas. Frawley was president of the Fisherman’s Wharf Merchants Association, sits on the executive board of California Association of Zoos and Aquariums, serves as chairman of the Zoo and Aquarium committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, and is a board member of the American Institute of Ethics. He holds a B.S. degree from Minnesota State University in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services with an emphasis in Wildlife and Resources Management / Biology.
