Bahia

Bahia is the site of a former tidal marsh that was drained in order to allow agricultural activities to occur.
Like many such sites, after World War II, a housing development was proposed there. The Marin Audubon Society worked to prevent such developments, arguing that the original tidal marsh should be restored on the site.

The Marin Audubon Society worked to prevent such developments, arguing that the original tidal marsh should be restored on the site.
Marin Audubon ultimately purchased the site and, in 2008, the containment levee was breached to allow tidal water to inundate the land for the first time in about 80 years.
The Bay Institute secured a $100,000 grant to assist with restoration costs.
