Never before has the protection and preservation of San Francisco Bay been so urgent. The Bay Institute seeks to create the first-ever interpretive center for learning and action for the Bay, on the Bay. By acquiring the Aquarium of the Bay at PIER 39 in San Francisco, we will visibly anchor the region's activities to restore the estuary, develop collaborative solutions, and encourage future generations to ensure its health.
This revitalized Aquarium of the Bay will become the community's focal point for appreciating and preserving our greatest environmental resource.
To take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime purchase option expiring in March 2009, The Bay Institute seeks to raise $12 million to purchase the aquarium, develop new exhibits and program enhancements, and endow programs to serve lower income youth and adults. Your partnership with us will bring new life to this once-and-future ecological paradise.
"The Bay is the iconic symbol of our area...In short, the Bay defines us."
