Terra Linda High School During the past four months, three classes of high school students have performed water studies on Las Gallinas Creek in Terra Linda and Miller Creek in Marinwood. These studies were part of the biology program at Terra Linda High School facilitated by teacher Debolina Dutta. The students monitored the water flow, aquatic insects and water quality through experiments that took place each week at one or both of the two creeks and in the classroom. Brita Dempsey and John Parodi of the STRAW staff headed up the support for the creek studies. In addition, hydrologist Rachel Kamman of Kamman Hydrology and the Friends of Las Gallinas Creek, presented to the classes and facilitated the water flow studies. In the classroom, students monitored water quality and chemical dilutions, experimented with watershed formation, identified aquatic insects, and learned about how the water cycle affects their own watershed.
